Through the collaboration of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, we craft a tapestry of sound that mirrors the rich tapestry of our community. Every rehearsal and performance is a celebration of diversity, where musicians of all ages and backgrounds converge to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
A true East Coast talent, Lisa's musical journey began with a childhood steeped in piano, clarinet, and saxophone studies. From lively community theatre performances to various band ensembles, her passion for music became evident early on. Lisa pursued her musical education at the University of Prince Edward Island, earning a degree in the Bachelor of Music Program.
Afterward, Lisa ventured to the close-knit community of Piccadilly, NL, where she shared her love for music and English as an educator. Since 2005, she has been a dedicated teacher within the Durham Catholic District School Board, leaving an indelible mark on her students through the transformative power of music.
Currently serving as the Curriculum Chair of the Arts at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School, Lisa brings her wealth of experience and expertise to shape the artistic education landscape. Beyond the classroom, Lisa's involvement in the world of concert bands has been notable. Under her direction, her bands have showcased their musical prowess at Music Fest Canada multiple times, earning silver standing, results that speak volumes about her commitment to excellence.
A valued member of the CCBW since 2009, Lisa continues to contribute her passion and skill to our ensemble, enriching the collective musical journey with her East Coast flair and dedication to fostering a love for music in the Whitby community.

FLUTE
The flute serves as a vital component of the concert band, contributing melodic, harmonic, and textural elements that enhance the overall musical interpretation and performance. Its agility, versatility, and expressive capabilities make it an indispensable part of the ensemble. They often add colour and depth to the music through harmonies and counterpoint.
SAXOPHONE
The saxophone is a versatile member of the woodwind section, adding richness, depth, and variety to the ensemble's sound.

TRUMPET
The trumpet plays a vital role in shaping the sound and character of the concert band, contributing melodic, harmonic, and textural elements that enhance the ensemble's performances. Its versatility, power, and expressiveness make it a cornerstone of the brass section and a key player in the concert band sound.
CLARINET + OBOE
The clarinet plays a vital role in shaping the sound and character of the concert band, contributing melodic, harmonic, and textural elements that enhance the ensemble's performances.
The oboe contributes to the overall blend and balance of the woodwind section. Its unique timbre adds depth and character to the ensemble's sound, helping to create a cohesive blend.
PERCUSSION DRUMS
Percussion drums contribute to dynamic contrast in the music, adding intensity and excitement to the performance.
They can produce a wide range of dynamic levels, from soft and subtle to loud and powerful, enhancing the overall expressiveness of the ensemble.
FRENCH HORNS
The French horn helps to blend and balance the brass section, bridging the gap between the bright sound of the trumpets and the darker sound of the trombones and tuba. Its timbre adds colour and warmth to the ensemble's sound, contributing to a cohesive blend.
The French horn is often used in transitional passages, helping to smooth the transitions between different sections of the music.
BASSOON
Percussion drums contribute to dynamic The bassoon serves as the main instrument providing the lowest pitches in the woodwind section. It often plays the bass line, providing a solid foundation for the rest of the ensemble.
In contrast to the brighter sounds of flutes, clarinets, and saxophones, the bassoon adds a darker, mellower color to the overall ensemble sound. This adds depth and richness to the band's overall timbre.
TUBA
The tuba is primarily responsible for the bass line in the concert band. It provides the fundamental pitches and helps to establish the harmonic foundation for the entire ensemble.
It offers support and stability to the entire band, anchoring the sound and providing a solid rhythmic and harmonic reference point
